A group of dedicated citizens, educators and members of the blind community began meeting during the fall of 2006 to organize recognizing the void that exists and the need for blind citizens of all ages to engage in recreational leisure activities and competitive sports.  Due to a lack of motivation, societal expectations, and limited transportation, blind children and adults have not had the opportunities in these areas commensurate with their sighted peers.  A board of directors was elected in April, 2007 and a constitution was put in place.  KABA has the strong desire to be the organization that can provide information, resources, and training that will allow blind and visually impaired Kentuckians of all ages the chance to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
